I took a trip on the train from Narvik station to Kiruna Sweden. There are trains at 10-52 and 15-15 from Narvik and 09-29 and 15-15 from Kiruna. The scenery is spectacular with views of the fjords and mountains. The distance is 133 km and journey takes 3 hours with 12 stops. The track is mainly single, with many passing places as there are 10 freight train carrying iron ore from Sweden to Narvik port every day. On the Norway side of the border the train looks down on the fjords that in WW2, Britain and Nazi Germany fought the battle of Narvik, 9 April and 8 June 1940. On this day trip i took the 15-15 back to Narvik. On this day the refreshment bar was only open on the Swedish side of the border.-----------------------------Narvik train station as two platforms, with direct night train to Stockholm Sweden. To go south in Norway you have to travel by bus from Narvik. Narvik bus station is one mile from the train station. The bus station is called Rutebilstasjonen.---------------Narvik has a population of just over 14,000,and is a icefree port all year round. There is an interesting War museum and church. Narvik is a compact city easy to walk around, the tourist office is in the main street.-------------------------------------------------------------------403ed5b0-0d08-11e9-8589-35a2a1b059a5.JPG
